June Grace Hineline Strahler Shollenberger passed away peacefully on February 22, 2023, after living with Multiple Sclerosis most of her adult life and Alzheimer’s disease over the last decade.
June was born on June 13, 1949, to the late Burton and Grace (Engler) Hineline. She was a graduate of Easton High School - Class of 1967. Prior to being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, June previously worked at Lafayette Bank and Laneco in Easton, PA, the latter being where she met her husband, Dennis Shollenberger. June and Dennis were married on June 21, 1980 and spent 28 years together until his death on December 18, 2008. June lived in Williams Township and Easton, PA, before moving to Boca Raton, FL in 1989 and St. Augustine, FL in 2012.
Before the onset of Alzheimer’s, if you asked June to share a story it definitely would have been one about an “adventure” with her grandkids - - and there were tons of those stories from which to choose. She loved all “her grands” completely and they were, without a doubt, her most important achievement in life.
Even though Alzheimer’s impacted June’s life and memory, it did not change the way she lived. We were fortunate she remained the same cheerful and caring person she had always been. June was happiest when she was either dancing or helping others and no one remained a stranger as she quickly befriended everyone. Her generosity was endless, whether offering a hug, the sweater off her back or making sure no one was ever hungry, she was always looking for ways to make a positive impact on someone else.
June was predeceased by her parents and husband. She is survived by her brothers Ron (Judy) Hineline, Bert (Terri) Hineline, Todd (Cynthia) Hineline and Chris Hineline; her bonus sister-in-law, Joan Hartranft Creveling; her children, Scott Strahler and his wife, Joelle, and Tracy Strahler Mickey and her husband, Leland Willis; grandchildren Parker Strahler, Alexis Mickey Dzion and her husband Colin, Chase Strahler, Landon Mickey, Fischer Willis, Avery Willis and Keegan Mickey; and great-grandsons Jordan and Dawson Dzion.
June’s children would also like to acknowledge her lifelong and steadfast friends, Mary Fritchman-Grube, Joanne Meck, Sandee Bachman Tucker, Karen Altemose and the late Grace Mary Loquasto Vogrin. Thank you for the years of endless laughter, love and friendship you gave our Mom.
A private family service will be held at a later date where June and Dennis’s ashes will be buried together at her beloved St. John’s Lutheran Church in Williams Township, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in June’s name may be made to either: Community Hospice & Palliative Care, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, FL 32257, or online at support.communityhospice.com; or to Alzheimer’s Association Research at alz.org/research.
