Julia Kathleen Sedgley
August 22,1996 - June 14, 2024
On June 14, 2024, Julia Kathleen Sedgley died unexpectedly at home, age 27.
Julia was preceded in death by her daughter Ophelia “Opie” Dell Miller, and she is survived by her daughter Charlotte “Charlie” Jean Royal. In her love, light, humor, and mischief, Charlie resembles her mama and gives her family a reason to go on in the face of this loss.
Left to mourn Julia are her parents Joy and Ryan Sedgley, sister Anne Mallery Sedgley, and her devoted partner James R. Scanlan; grandparents Owen and Alma Jo Wilson, Bob and Bobbi Petty, David and Audrey Sedgley, and Perry and Sherry Whittaker; aunts and uncles Kori Sedgley and Patrick Hogan, Jimmy and Holly Wilson, Emily and Zach Parker and Brandon and Chrissy Sedgley; a large, loving extended family; childhood friend Kayla Markham, and many other dear friends.
Julia’s longtime health challenges and personal losses were beyond her years, and sometimes overwhelmed her. She fought hard.
Julia was famous among friends and family for her openness, playfulness, her laughter and her brilliant sense of humor. If she were here now, she’d be helping with her obituary, suggesting scandalous, irreverent, hilarious revisions and making wicked remarks. And she could be such a sweetheart. We miss her so much.
Most of all, Julia loved her little girls.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at Mandarin Presbyterian Church 2501 Loretto Road, Jacksonville, FL 32223.
