Judy Anne Walsworth

August 4, 1948 — November 4, 2024

Judy Anne (Hahn) Walsworth passed away peacefully on November 4, 2024. She was born on August 4, 1948, in Auburn, Nebraska. She met the charming Dale Walsworth on a blind date and the two were married on September 13, 1969.

In 1981, Judy and Dale made a commitment to twelve step programs. Together, they traveled across the country, attending conventions and always attended meetings wherever they went. Judy’s journey was one of compassion and dedication, offering encouragement, strength and hope to many throughout the years.

In her 20s, Judy made her first cross-country move to Michigan, where she soon settled into married life on the banks of the White River in Hesperia, Michigan with Dale and their children, Michelle and Todd. Later, in her 60s, she moved once more to Daytona Beach Shores, Florida, fulfilling her lifelong dream of living on the beach. Wherever she went, Judy found ways to connect, making friends, attending church, and giving her time to volunteer work. Her warmth and genuine spirit made her a beloved part of every community she joined.

A true adventurer, Judy’s love of travel carried her around the world. She made it a point to return often to beloved places like France, Italy, and Greece. In her forties, Judy took up learning French, becoming an A+ student. This past year, she spent three joyful weeks in Europe, connecting with her cousins in France, and proudly held conversations entirely in French. Her excitement for exploring was contagious, in the last decade of her life she travelled on many cruises with family and friends, always signing up for as much adventure as she could. She ziplined in several countries, rode segways, swam with stingrays, tobogganed down a mountain in New Zealand and hiked a glacier in Alaska. She exuberantly went to Scotland to experience the Outlander tour, enthusiastically sang along during the Sound of Music tour in Austria and peacefully floated in a hot air balloon to watch the sunrise in Sedona. Her generosity with her family ran deep and she spoiled each one with special trips. Last year she was thrilled to be able to watch the sunrise in Kauai on her 75th birthday being surrounded with their love and adoration.

Judy took pleasure in in-depth study of the Bible, and great comfort in her personal faith with God. After losing her husband in 2011, she devoted over a decade of her life to co-chairing GriefShare and helping others to navigate the loss of loved ones. Most recently she and a beloved friend had decided to start a social group for women who had lost spouses.

Judy is survived by her devoted daughter, Michelle Voss and her cherished son-in-law of 36 years, Dan Voss, three precious granddaughters, Danae Voss (Abraham Escalante), Julia Voss and Joselyn Walsworth, brother-in-law Gerald Walsworth, sister-in-law Marian Walsworth, and her dear “soul sister,” Linda (Joe) Kruszynski, who has long been like another member of the family. She will be deeply missed by her circle of devoted friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale, her son, Todd Walsworth, her mother, Odile Hahn, her brother, Jack Hahn.

Her life was a testament to enjoying life with love, faith, and friendship. She will be missed every single day, but her spirit lives on in the hearts of those who love her so dearly.

A celebration of life will be held on December 21 at 10:30 am at Shores Community Center and a graveside service will be held in West Michigan next summer.
