Jon Stephen Atkins

Jon Steven Atkins, 79, from Jacksonville, FL, passed away on August 10 ^th , 2018 from Leukemia. He was born on November 29, 1938 in Little Rock, Arkansas. Steven was in ROTC in high school. Once he graduated, Steven joined the U.S. Navy where he retired after 22 years of service. He traveled to multiple areas of the world, including Vietnam during the war. After retiring from the Navy, he started working as a Security Guard at Florida State College of Jacksonville. He worked at the college for 16 years until he retired. Besides being a hard worker, he was also a family man. After marrying Mary Newton, he adopted her three young children and loved them as his own. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. A few of his favorite hobbies were gardening, reading, watching westerns, and trying to make people laugh. Steven was also a member of Prince of Peace Charismatic Episcopal Church. He was always known for his love of Animals, People, and most importantly God. He will be terrible missed.
