John “Jack” Henry Minge III passed away on December 17, 2024 with his wife Rosemary by his side.
Jack and his twin brother Edward “Ed” were born in Jacksonville, Florida to Mary Gray and John H. Minge Jr.
Jack graduated from Wolfson High School and Emory University. Following graduation, he joined the Air Force.
Jack devoted his entire career to improving the lives of the mentally ill. Throughout his career he served as the Executive Director of Renaissance Center Inc. of Jacksonville, the Executive Director of Behavioral Health of Ft. Lauderdale, and the Executive Director of Coastal Behavioral Health of Sarasota. He served as Interim Director to several mental health centers in Florida and Georgia. He was a mentor to many and a consultant to numerous organizations.
Jack was an avid golfer, gourmet cook, college football fan, and he enjoyed watching his granddaughters grow from babies to young ladies.
He will be remembered as a kind and generous man.
He is preceded in death by his parents Mary and John Minge Jr., his sister Tonita Foster, and his nephew David Foster.
Jack is survived by his partner/spouse of 42 years Rosemary Sarkees Minge, daughter Rebecca Turner (Brian), granddaughters Avery & Anna Turner, brother Ed Minge (Claudia), nephews Patrick Minge & Chris Warren, along with many more nephews, nieces, and great nephews.
To quote Jack, “We’re better together.” Yes we were.
