John L. Carter

February 26, 1943 — December 12, 2017

John L. Carter, John L. or John Pa as he was affectionately known, went home to be with our Lord on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 in Jacksonville, FL, after a lengthy illness. He was 74 yrs. old. He was born on February 26, 1943 in Savannah, Ga., to the late William Trenton and Bertha Barr Carter. He grew up in Jacksonville, FL. As a young man he loved the beach, surfing and dancing! His part time passion was jewelry. His full time passion was talking. Which is why he excelled as a salesman for over 40 yrs. He will be dearly missed by many. He was preceded in death by his loving mother Bertha, his sister Dorothy (Keith) Loftin and his nephew Justin Carter. He is survived by his daughters Christie (Ricky) Scheider and Bridget (Dewayne) Osteen. His four grandchildren Joshua, Cristin, Aubrey and Braxton. His brothers Dennie (former wife Glenda Carter Jones) Melvin (Sheran) and Bill (Susan). His half brother Jay Barr and numerous nieces and nephews and host of other family and friends.
