Joan Hooten

Joan Hooten (Jo), 85 of Welaka FL, beloved wife of Jerry Hooten, took her last breath on earth and her first in Heaven on November 29, 2020 surrounded by her family.  Born July 15, 1935 to John and Mary Godwin of Birmingham, Alabama, she was a devoted wife and mother who cherished time spent with family and friends. No one in her life was a stranger. She always had funny stories to tell, loved to laugh and had a smile that could brighten your day.  There is no shortage of fond memories that we will hold near and dear.  She loved and was loved deeply and we will miss her with all our hearts.

She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Jerry Hooten of Welaka, FL; her daughter, Cherie Selvey of Jacksonville, FL; and son, Scott Hooten of Austin, TX.  She leaves behind many nieces, grandkids and grandchildren.

Preceding her in death was one son, John Hooten; a sister, Mary Ann Lovelace; and a grandson, Ozz Young.
