Jean Carroll Loos (Lorraine), 72, peacefully passed away in the early morning of December 11, 2024, at Haven Hospice of Orange Park after a brief battle with cancer.
Born on December 8, 1952, in Jacksonville, Florida, she was the daughter of Delbert James Carroll (Sr.) and Lotus Inez Carroll (Pierce). Jean graduated from Nathan Bedford Forrest Senior High School in 1971 and later pursued her passion for carpentry at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, where she earned her Apprenticeship in Carpentry in 1984.
Throughout her professional journey, Jean dedicated herself to educating and nurturing students. She worked as a carpenter and locksmith at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, before taking on the role of Teaching Lab Specialist in the Division of Engineering at the University of North Florida, from which she retired in January of 2019.
Jean found immense joy in being near water, whether on a boat or along the shore. Her love for woodworking showcased her creativity and craftsmanship. A devoted family member, she had a special talent for bringing everyone together, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere filled with love. Her skills in crafting and cooking not only enriched her life but also the lives of those around her, leaving behind a treasure trove of cherished memories.
Jean is fondly remembered by her children, Angela Carroll and Kristina Dingle; her grandchildren, Rhyannon Mercer, Dennis “Ricky” Dingle V, and Rylan Dingle; her great-grandchildren, Randy Randall Jr. and Melani Shellman; her brother, Delbert James Carroll Jr.; her sisters, June Schultz and Debbie Luke; as well as numerous nephews and nieces, including James, David, Dane, James Todd, Jason Todd, Jake Padgett, Jamie Carroll, Lauren Schultz, and Rachel Schultz.
She is reunited in spirit with her parents, Delbert James Carroll (Sr.) and Lotus Inez Carroll (Pierce); her brother, Andy Carroll; her sisters, Judy Payne and Juanita Holland; and her niece, Ethel “Jojo” Cooley.
Join us in celebrating Jean’s life on Saturday, February 1, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at 4124 Eagle Landing Parkway, Orange Park, FL. The family looks forward to welcoming relatives and friends in sharing fond memories together.
