Jason Allen Barrett, a beloved son, father, brother, and friend, went to be with the Lord on July 19, 2023, at the age of 45, in Jacksonville, Florida. His departure from this world leaves a void that will be deeply felt by all who knew and loved him.
Born in Lawrenceburg, TN, Jason was a graduate of Nathan Bedford High School in Jacksonville, FL. He worked in warehouse management, where he dedicated his skills and talents to his work. Throughout his life, he was a member of the Blanding Boulevard Baptist Church, finding solace and strength in his faith.
Jason was a man of many passions. He found serenity in the outdoors, spending much of his free time fishing, hunting, and kayaking. Nature brought him joy, and he cherished the moments spent in its embrace. Beyond the wild, Jason had a soft spot for animals, particularly his cherished cats, who brought him companionship and comfort.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. Jason is survived by his only son, Gavin Milligan, who will carry his memory forward with love. He also leaves behind his siblings, Kathy Tavares (Joe), John Runnels (Shelia), Steve Barrett, Scott Barrett (Pat), Jeff Barrett and Michelle Ferrar who shared a deep bond of family unity. In addition to his immediate family, Jason is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Jason was preceded in death by his father, Elwood Barrett Jr, and his mother, Geneva Entrekin Barrett, whose love and guidance shaped the person he became. He was also preceded by his brother, Jerold Runnels, and his sister, Sharon Perkins, who now await him in eternal peace.
May he rest in peace, reunited with his loved ones in the eternal embrace of the Lord. Though Jason is no longer with us, his spirit will live on in our hearts and minds, guiding us through life's journey. We find comfort in knowing that he is at peace and free from pain.
A memorial service to honor and celebrate Jason's life will be held at Blanding Boulevard Baptist Church on August 5th, 2023, at eleven o'clock, where family and friends will come together to pay their final respects and bid farewell. Services officiated by Pastor David Adair.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Jason's memory to the Movember Charity.
May the memories of Jason Allen Barrett continue to inspire us to be kind, to love unconditionally, and to cherish every moment we have with our loved ones. Rest in peace, dear Jason.
