James Richard Stuebgen

James “Jim” Richard Stuebgen, age 84, passed away on July 14, 2024.  He was born on February 24, 1940, in Steubenville, Ohio to Irene Zewe and William F. Stuebgen.

After serving in the Navy, Jim began his career in computers with Burroughs, which later became Unisys.  When he retired, he worked at H&R Block as a tax professional.  It was through his careers that he met many of his dearest and most cherished friends.

On January 25, 2024, Jim celebrated 60 years of marriage with his wife Beth. Jim will be remembered for his faith, his generosity of his time, talent and treasure and his hard work.  However, he will most importantly be remembered for his unwavering and unconditional love of his family, especially his wife as he selflessly took care of her throughout almost the past decade during her struggle with Alzheimer’s.

At the time of his passing, Jim was a member of San Juan del Rio Catholic Church.  He was very involved in many church ministries throughout the years, including the Knights of Columbus, Eucharist Ministers, Christ Renews His Parish, and Religious Education.

He loved golf, traveling, snow skiing, reading, Pittsburgh Steelers and attending his grandson’s sporting and life events.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers William and Robert and his son James Gregory. He is survived by his wife Beth, his daughter Suzanne Irish (Tim), his grandsons Ryan Irish (Antonia), Tyler Irish (Hannah), Connor Irish (Kylie), Braden Irish (Amelia) and Noah and Parker Stuebgen.  He is also survived by his great-grandchildren Elizabeth, Nate, Sylas and Wrenley Irish as well as several much-loved nieces and nephews.

Funeral mass will be held at San Juan del Rio Catholic Church, 1718 State Road 13, St. Johns, Florida on Saturday, August 17th at 11am. Internment and reception will follow.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
