It is with great sadness that the family of James Robert Prohaska, known as Jimmy to many, announces his passing after a valiant battle with cancer, on Friday, December 8, 2017, at the age of 50. Jimmy died at home, peacefully surrounded by family.
Born July 26, 1967 in Dearborn, Michigan, Jimmy was a graduate of Colorado State University where he was a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity and where he met his wife, Leslie. After a few moves they landed in Baton Rouge where he went to school at night to receive his MBA from Louisiana State University. Jimmy was a passionate fan of these two schools especially during college football season and even traveled to Tuscaloosa this fall to attend the Alabama v. Colorado State football game.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Leslie, sons James and Aaron, parents Jim and Shirley Prohaska, brother Rob Prohaska, sister Laurie Prohaska, mother-in-law Joanne Upchurch, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Elizabeth and Tom Fee, Bucky and Cecile Upchurch, and Tony Kennedy. Jimmy will also be forever remembered by his nieces and nephews, extended family and dear friends.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, December 13 th at Riverside Presbyterian Church, 849 Park Street, Jacksonville, FL 32204, at 11 am.
