James R. Mccormack

St. Johns, Florida - James "Jim" R. McCormack, age 94, passed away on 14 February 2024, in St. Johns, Florida. He was born July 1929, in Chilhowie, Virginia. Jim was a man of integrity, character, and deep faith. He loved his family, friends, country, and his God! He could always be counted on to do the right thing and was a "sounding board" for friends when they needed advice.

Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Yvonne K. McCormack; his daughter, Diana Marie McCormack and his step-son, James Bruce Stoney.

Before serving in the United States Navy from 1952 to 1955, Jim pursued higher education at the University of Tennessee Chattanooga. He then embarked on a successful career, working in various jobs as a salesman for IBM, an independent stockbroker, and a representative for Cigna Insurance Company.

In addition to his professional life, Jim was an ardent supporter and sponsor for Alcoholics Anonymous for over 50 years. Jim had a green thumb and loved to garden. His garden was the envy of the neighborhood and brought him great joy.

A Memorial Service will be held at Jacksonville National Cemetery to honor Jim's life. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that contributions be made to the Salvation Army in Jim's memory.
