James Grady Lunsford

Our beloved husband, father, son, brother and uncle, James Grady Lunsford, passed away December 31, 2018.  He was 49.

Born in Jacksonville, Florida to James Oliver Lunsford and Annabell Powell Lunsford, they moved to Middleburg, Florida where Grady was raised. He moved to Jacksonville in 1998 to be with the love of his life.

He attended Middleburg High School and played baseball with the Middleburg Athletic Association. He was a heavy equipment operator most of his adult life, working on many well known commercial and residential sites, including building rail beds across the country. He truly was one of the best in his field.

He loved the outdoors and hunting & fishing, and often referred to the woods as his church.

He will be remembered for his laugh and open smile, his kind and caring nature, and his spur of the moment quips and jokes.

Grady was preceded in death by his mother, Annabell Powell.

He leaves behind his father, James O. Lunsford of Collins, Georgia; loving and dedicated wife, Della K. Lunsford; children, Faith V. Kaleel, Zachary J. Lunsford, Joseph N. Lunsford, Justin M. Kaleel, all of Jacksonville, Florida, and Ashlee Carlson of Iowa; sister, Angela Lunsford of Middleburg; special niece, Heather Raulerson of the Atlanta area, and many more nieces and nephews.

A memorial celebration of Grady’s life will be held at the family home with the date to be announced later.
