James (Jim) Doughfman, loving husband to his wife and best friend, mentoring father to his children, and loving grandfather who spoiled his grandchildren, passed away at his home on Friday, November 20, 2020 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Jim was born on May 29, 1966 in Danville Arkansas to Larrie and Mary Elizabeth (Pollard) Doughfman . He grew up in the Orange Park/Middleburg area and graduated from Middleburg High School in 1984. It was there that he met his great friend, Scott Petry, who remained close to Jim until his passing. From a young age, Jim displayed a disposition of kindness and compassion. This altruistic personality ushered him into his first job in the medical profession as an x-ray technician at Orange Park Medical Center where he met his wife Adrianne and whom he later married on March 24, 1990. Their marriage was founded and flourished on love and friendship. Jim and Adrianne raised two great children, Dustin and Sarah.
Jim’s professional career soon began to flourish, leading him into respiratory therapy and management. He pursued his education while working full time and earned a Master’s Degree in Healthcare Informatics from the University of Cincinnati. Jim’s persistence, accomplishments and drive to help others led him to his final career as the Practice Manager for Pulmonary Associates of St Augustine (Doctors Javier Aduen, Kishwar Husain and Faisal Usman).
Jim’s love for life was resonated through his passion for art and music. He produced many personal works of art in the form of music composition, songwriting, and illustrating. His affinity for nature and traveling led him on trips with his wife Adrianne to Alaska, Hawaii, England and Scotland. Jim was an avid Jaguar Football afficionado, fish enthusiast, movie buff and all-around computer geek. None of these passions can compare to the endless love he had for his family. His devotion and time spent with them will always be remembered.
Jim is survived by his wife and best friend Adrianne (Wilcott); his son Dustin and his wife Haleigh (Belt) Doughfman, his three children, Michael, Gabrielle and Charlotte; and his daughter Sarah and her husband Jonathan Henderson; his nephew Shane Wilcott with whom he shared a special fatherly bond; his father, Larrie Doughfman; his sisters Miechelle Birt and Teri Billings; and many nieces and nephews who were an important part of his life.
Jim was preceded in death by his grandparents, Pollard and Doughfman; his mother, Mary Elizabeth (Pollard) Doughfman; his parents-in-law, James and Ethelyn (Lynch) Wilcott; Brothers-in-law, Chris Billings, James (Chip) Wilcott and Shawn Wilcott.
Jim’s life will be celebrated by gathering friends and family at their home in Middleburg on Sunday November 22, 2020 from 12-6. The address is 4304 Rock Pigeon Lane Middleburg, FL 32068. In lieu of food or flowers the family is accepting donations.
