Iris Schweizer, 75, of Fleming Island, FL, passed away Saturday, April 11, 2020 and is now with her Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. Iris was born in Colombia, South America to the late Pablo Enciso and Raquel Quijano de Enciso. After growing up and living in Colombia for thirty years, Iris moved with her family to Dallas, Texas. A few years later, Iris moved to Miami, Florida, where she experienced three life changing events. Iris grew up knowing about God; however, in 1987 she came to know Jesus Christ as her Savior and Lord of her life. Iris faithfully walked with Him yielding her life to His providential will regardless of the cost. Iris met and married her husband of 32 years, the late Robert “Bob” Schweizer, who preceded her in death by eight months. It was also in Miami that Iris began working as a sales clerk in the ladies’ fashion department at a large retail store. She enjoyed meeting, helping and serving customers in the retail industry for the next twenty years. Following Bob’s retirement, Iris and Bob moved to Greenville, SC where they lived for 10 years. Wanting to be near family, twelve years ago, Bob and Iris moved to Clay County, Florida. Iris was passionate about life and volunteered as a counselor at First Coast Women’s Services in Orange Park. She was involved at her local church, Harbor Baptist of Fleming Island, and actively served in the Fleming Island Bible Study Fellowship. Iris also enjoyed gardening, knitting, crocheting, reading, going for walks, and spending time with family and friends. She will be deeply missed by them.
She is preceded in death by her sister Alicia Enciso, and sister Lucy (Bob) Lawrie. Iris is survived by her daughters Diana (Jimmy) Scarborough and Suzanne (Ron) Sumner, son George (Marti) Quintero, and stepson Kurt Schweizer, sisters Maria Victoria Enciso de Pacheco (Ivan), Sonia Enciso de Llorente (Ricardo), brothers Roberto Enciso(Sara), Dario Enciso (Fanny), sister-in-law Elaine Miller, five grandchildren, Kathryn, Rebecca, Danielle, Sam and Natalie, and numerous nieces and nephews.
