Irene Elizabeth Mortensen

Irene Elizabeth “Nonny” Mortensen, 75, of Jacksonville, FL passed away April 12, 2019 in Jacksonville, FL.

She was born in New York, NY on August 14, 1943 to the late Lester and Betty Bengis (Mutter).

Irene will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend, and loved hosting family gatherings as often as possible.  When not spending time with friends and family, she pursued her passion for reading and gardening, especially alongside her canine companion, Bria.

She is preceded in death by her brother, Robert Bengis.

Irene is survived by her loving husband, Jack; children, John, Kathy and Kristen; grandchildren, Kaiden and Amora; and cousin Maureen, whom she lovingly regarded as her own sister.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, April 20, 2019 at Eagle Bend Island, 16970 Eagle Bend Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32226.
