On Thursday January 10, 2019, Gregory Paul Kauffman, husband and father, peacefully went to be with the Lord at the age of 66 in Jacksonville, Florida at the Community Hospice McGraw Center at Mayo Clinic.
He was born to David and Joanne Kauffman on April 23, 1952 in Akron, Ohio and was one of 5 children. He was married to his wife of 35 years, Mary Anne Kauffman (maiden name Chittenden) on January 7, 1984. Greg was preceded in death by his father, David Kauffman. He is lovingly remembered by his wife Mary Anne, daughter Sarah, son-in-law Russell, son David, daughter Rachel, son-in-law Jonathan, grandchildren Elliana and Micah, mother Joanne and his four remaining siblings, Brad, Terry, Debbie and Kevin and their families.
He served his country for 4 years as a Marine, ending as a Sergeant. After that, he continued his duty in the Reserves for 2 years. He worked as a Painter Journeyman for the Broward County School Board in South Florida for 27 years before retiring in 2015. He was a generous man and ALWAYS there when you needed him. He enjoyed the outdoors with friends, fishing, swimming and boating.
A ceremony will be held at the Jacksonville National Cemetery with military honors on Friday January 25, 2019 at 12:30 p.m. Those attending the ceremony are asked to arrive 15 minutes prior. After the graveside ceremony there will be a remembrance gathering at 3 p.m. at 144 Peter Island Drive, Saint Augustine, FL 32092.
