Mom was so many things to friends and family. But my niece stated it perfectly.
Gigi was a great teacher (Southside Elementary), strong woman, fun, such a big heart, great at speaking her mind,
And of course, incredibly loving and giving!! Most of all Gigi was the boss. I loved how Gigi was equally as sweet, kind, and caring as she was strong and feisty. You rarely see the strength/gentle sides so well balanced. She was that person!!A beautiful package adorned with the most gorgeous bow.
Gigi had the know how to make things fun, magical, and special for kids That included her classroom, as well as her home and adventures in the motorhome.
God certainly blessed all who knew her. And she would say how all of you were truly a joy and blessing to her. Family, friends, new and old acquaintances, staff at Savannah Grand and The Canopy at Duval Station, hospitals, rehabs and finally Community Hospice. We appreciate you all. No matter where mom was she always brought laughter and love with her spunky personality.
Mom was very active in the community and was a member of First Baptist Church of Fernandina Beach.
These are descriptions of mom from those who loved her:
Full of southern hospitality ,amazing teacher, generous in giving, authentically genuine, honest, kind, affectionate, loved unconditionally, forgiving, great friend, full of laughter, dedicated to family, fiercely loyal, determined, fun, good sense of humor, upbeat, effervescent, spunky, loved shopping, fashionista, poised, dignified, enjoyed life, big heart, thoughtful, creative and artistic, loved to travel, knowledgeable, strong haven, approachable, a collector, delightful, heartwarming, straight shooter, feisty and spicy., spoke her mind, served her community and church.
My brother used to say, “We might not be the Leave It to Beaver family, but we are pretty close.” In other words, because of mom and dad we were raised in a wholesome well-loved family. Grateful for a mom(dad) who set the standard of what good parenting is supposed to look like.
We will be having a double funeral at Jacksonville National cemetery for mom and dad on March 4th at 11:00. 4083 Lannie Rd, Jacksonville, Florida 322218.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Community Hospice at: https://thefoundationcares.org/give/
Also, donations to wreaths across America is a worthy cause to honor our fallen vets.
