On the morning of July 9, 2022, George R. Hardesty passed away with his wife, son and daughter by his side to comfort him.

George was born in Memphis, Tennessee, graduated from Treadwell High School and State Technical Institute at Memphis with a Mechanical Engineering Degree.

George enjoyed a 31 year career at Sears, Roebuck and Company. He began his career with Sears in Memphis, Tennessee later transferring to Jacksonville, Florida as the Building Manager of the Sears Catalog Distribution Merchandising Center before his retirement from Sears. He then started a second career in Sales having worked at Howard Services, W.W. Gay Mechanical Contractors and The Trane Company in Jacksonville, Florida before finally retiring for good.

George was an avid outdoor sportsman having enjoyed boating, fishing, golfing and hunting throughout his life.  He took great pleasure and pride in gardening and keeping his lawn in pristine condition. He was the ultimate handyman, carpenter, plumber, automobile mechanic, brick mason, electrician, you name it and he was proficient at it. He gave of his time and talents unselfishly to help family, friends and neighbors in all of these fields.

George was very active in many organizations throughout his life.  He was an Auxiliary Probation Officer and a Civil Defense Radiological Monitoring Instructor in Memphis, Tennessee. He was a past member of Kiwanis and a Board Member of the Youth Crisis Center in Jacksonville, Florida.

George proudly served our country for 3 years in the U.S. Army and served 3 years in the Standby U.S. Army Reserves.

George is predeceased by his parents, brother John and daughter Wendy.

George leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Ester; son David (Jeannine); daughter Heather (Dan); brother Dan; sister Faye (Harold); 6 grandchildren, 6 bonus grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren; many cousins, nieces and nephews.

You are loved. You are missed. You will always and forever remain in our hearts, minds and memories.

A private family military service (memorial) will be held at a later date at the Jacksonville National Cemetery in Jacksonville, Florida.
