Gary Allen Sachs, age 86 of Orange Park, Florida, passed away on Monday, December 5, 2022, with members of his family around his bedside in his home hospice “man cave”.
Gary was born 6/9/1936 to “Trudy” and Frank Sachs, both deceased, in Hibbing, Minnesota. Gary and his younger brother Bruce enjoyed fishing and spent summers at the lake with their father. Gary attended the University of Minnesota and graduated with a BS in Business and was a member of Theta Chi fraternity. After college, Gary served a three-year term in the US Navy before embarking on his career in Commercial Real Estate.
Sadly, preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Mary Hammer Sachs. It gave him much comfort in the end that they would soon be reunited, and Mary was anxiously awaiting his arrival as well. An outgoing couple with many dear lifelong friends who shared their faith from Advent Lutheran and Church of Argyle, theirs was an exemplary union. Especially close with brother Bruce and wife Betty, they shared a special bond and a home in the Villages.
Survived by 4 children, son Frank with wife Vicki, daughters Cathy, Deena from former wife, Pat Iverson Sachs, and Sheri from current wife Mary. Blessed with 9 exceptional grandchildren: Mackenzie and Sophia (Frank), Jasmine and Aysia (Cathy), Carly (Deena) and Taylor, TJ, Tia and Trey (Sheri). These kids were his world, and he was very proud of each and every one of their accomplishments. To them he was their “Papa Gary” or “Poppie” and a constant source of wisdom, love, support, and laughter.
Golfing was his obsession and the focus of most of his spare time and dabbled in woodworking. Laughter would be the first word associated with Gary by anyone who knew him. He made the world a brighter and funnier place and spread joy and faith through his vivacious personality and positive attitude. His absence will cause a huge hole in everyone’s hearts that knew him, but the fond memories and hilarious stories will live on forever.
Memorial Services will be announced at a later date.
