Gary was born and grew up in the mountains of Kentucky on July 17, 1960 to Sally and Earl Adkins. He was one of 9 siblings. He was a rebel from the start.
Gary left Kentucky and somehow ended up in Florida. There he learned the trade of building swimming pools. He was a perfectionist at his job. He worked hard and he liked to be his own boss. He was a hard ass, blunt and to the point. But, he was also fun and loved to make smart ass jokes.
He loved Kentucky, the UK Wildcats, building swimming pools, food and living life. But, what he loved most was his family. He raised 7 children who are almost as crazy as he was. He loved hanging out with his family and just spending quality time with them. Having oysters on the grill with him is a favorite past time for most who knew him.
Gary passed away at home while under hospice care on Monday September 23, 2019. He spent his final moments surrounded by his loved ones Gary was a rare breed and, in the end, a rare cancer took his life. His physical presence is no longer with us but, he will live forever in our hearts!
