Frank Allen Lloyd, dedicated & loving husband, dad, pop pop, brother & uncle peacefully passed with loving family around him April 12, 2023. While the last few years were marked with periods of great struggle, Frank never gave up beating many of the odds against him. His fight against dementia showed his determined & competitive spirit, embrace of hard work & most of all his deep love for his family & friends.
Frank was born as a twin October 4, 1948 to the late Alfred & Aimee Lloyd in Newark, NJ. He is preceded in death by his brothers Billy & Barry Lloyd. He is survived by his wife of 53 years Lynda Dolores, daughter Pamela Lynn Ellis (Jeff), grandchildren Olivia Layne, Davis Lloyd & Samuel Graham Ellis, twin sister Carolyn Barrett (Walter) & siblings Tom Lloyd (MaryAnn), Cathy Johnson (Jeff) along with many special nieces & nephews.
Frank graduated from Red Bank High (NJ) in 1967 where he met his high school sweetheart Lynda. He enjoyed playing football & baseball & playing in the high school band. He enlisted in the Navy in 1967 serving over 27 years. After boot camp in the Great Lakes, he was first stationed in Pax River, MD. In 1969 he married Lynda & they welcomed their only child Pamela in 1970. In 1975, they moved to Jacksonville, FL & Frank started his first of many sea tours, which he loved, from 1975-1978 on the Lexington, Nimitz & Forrestal. He was then stationed at NAS before returning to sea in 1982 on the Saratoga. In 1983 he was promoted to Chief Warrant Officer. He would finish his naval career with time on the Nimitz & Forrestal serving during Dessert Storm. He earned many naval awards during this time serving his country too. He retired in 1995 as CWO4. Frank also served as a referee & umpire for youth sports for many years for area high schools & Bel-Med in Orange Park.
Frank was an avid jogger, loved the beach, mountains & trips to NJ, travels around the world with Italy & the Northern Lights amongst his favorites. He enjoyed coaching & playing men's softball, loved his model trains, collecting Hess trucks, & cheering his Yankees, Cowboys & Seminoles. He truly loved his El Camino & going to car shows. He most treasured time with his family, especially cheering & supporting their passions.
He was a hero making many sacrifices for the ones he loved. He will be fondly remembered as loyal, loving, hard working & a rather funny man that loved a good prank & making others laugh. He was a dedicated, devoted & doting Husband, Father & Pop Pop.
Military Honors will be July 21 10 am at Jacksonville National Cemetery with a Memorial at Club Continental in Orange Park at 1pm.
