Dustan Blaine Woodard, 55, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away on Saturday, December 5 th after a long, hard-fought battle with cancer. Dustan was born to Lane Allen and Imogene Woodard on September 28 th , 1965 in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. He met the love of his life, Sheri, in 2015 and the two wed in 2019. Both wished they’d met sooner in life, and had more time together. He will be missed especially for their car trips to obscure, off-the-beaten-path destinations and nights cuddling on the couch watching music videos. He was a wonderful husband who served his bride very well by cooking delicious meals, indulging in yard sale shopping, and going to Gator games, among so many other acts of love. He will be incredibly missed also by his “Princess”, his daughter Amber, who he always wished the biggest and best things for and was so proud of. They enjoyed so many memories and years together, from going to shooting ranges to watching South Park in his final months.
Dustan served our country in both the United States Air Force and Army for many years. In addition to his military service, Dustan worked in the lawn management industry with long-time friend Jeff Crossen. Other employment included over-the-road trucking, hauling large machinery, and working for the City of Jacksonville. He truly was a Jack-of-all-Trades. Dustan enjoyed fishing and anything with an engine; whether it was taking long-drives and day trips, tinkering with motorcycles, or attending mud-bogging events. He could fix anything and was well-known for helping his neighbors with whatever they needed. Perhaps above all else, he was inseparable from his beloved bloodhound, Bear, and loved to take him places where he could run and they could enjoy the scenery together.
Dustan is preceded in death by his mother and father, and mother figure Sharon Carver. He is survived by his wife Sheri; daughter Amber; step-daughters Sarah (Scott) and Kayla (Kyle) and their children; brother Allen Woodard (Renee Robinson); sister Cindy Wymer (Mike); nephews Brad, Tim, and Daniel, niece Mikki; and dear friends Joanne Spencer and Jeff and Sandy Crossen, in addition to many other close friends.
A graveside service will be held at Jacksonville National Cemetery (4083 Lannie Rd., Jacksonville, FL 32218 – Lane 3) on Monday, December 21 st at 11:30 AM.
"Please join us after the service for a small Reception at Dustan and Sheri's home."
