Doris Claire Pinckard, lovingly known by everyone as "MeMa" was born on May 24, 1930 in Ludowici, Georgia. She went home to be with the Lord peacefully on January 18, 2022. Doris moved to south Florida as a small child and graduated from Miami Edison High School in 1948. Soon after high school she married the love of her life, Bertrand Pinckard. Together they raised 3 daughters and lived in the same house in Hialeah, Florida until he passed away after a long battle with cancer in 1988. She then moved to Orange Park, Florida and became a live-in nanny for 2 of her grandchildren.
Doris never drove a car and never had a job outside the home and yet she managed to live a very full and active life. After moving to Orange Park, she joined the Orange Park United Methodist Church and quickly became a very active volunteer at the church. She was an office volunteer and the church's main Sunday morning “Greeter” from 1993 until she was stricken with Dementia in 2015. Many families say that they joined the church because of her. She was a kind and gentle soul who had a beautiful smile that lit up the room and always made everyone feel loved and accepted. She was the most positive person you could ever know and never had a harsh or negative word to say about anyone. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her!
Doris is preceded in death by her husband, Bertrand Louis Pinckard, her parents, James Hulett Huff and Gladys Lovell Huff, and her siblings, Elwin Huff, Wilma (Harry) Drury, Neill Huff and Jimmie (Jean) Huff and her son-in-law Robert “Bob” Carter. Doris is survived by her children, Bonnie (Ken) Wilcox, Robin Carter and Debbie (Paul) Frendahl. Grandchildren, Ray (Caroline) Wilcox, Paula Wilcox, Kristin (Brian) Lassiter, Tony Panaro, Cheryl (Evan) St Peter, Katrina Stewart and Chris (Dee) Carter, along with 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
