Dolores Ann “Lorie” Easterling, 79, of Fleming Island, Florida, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 12, 2025.
Lorie lived a wonderful life. She was born on December 14, 1945, in New York City to Mary Deady Norton and Harold Edwin Norton, and spent her childhood living between New York and Florida. She graduated from Terry Parker High School in 1963 and spent most of her life in the greater Jacksonville area.
She was fortunate enough to travel the world, flying on the Concorde, sailing the Galápagos, and experiencing places most only dream of. When she wasn’t traveling, she was serving her community and spending time with the people she loved most.
In 1980, Lorie founded the Junior Woman’s Club of Orange Park. As the original president, she led numerous fundraising efforts and service projects. The friendships she made during those years lasted for decades, continuing in a close-knit group known as the “AJ’s” (After Juniors).
After the tragic and premature death of her sister, Cecilia “Cece” Jansheski, to cancer in 1978, Lorie became a dedicated volunteer with the American Cancer Society, eventually serving on its board of directors. She would later become a breast cancer survivor herself in the early 1990s. She also gave her time to other causes, volunteering at the Sulzbacher Center and local elementary schools. Her strength, generosity, and sense of humor left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.
Through it all, Lorie also worked as the office manager for the family business, Florida Pump Service, proving she was truly a jack of all trades. She could do it all.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister.
She is survived by her son MJ Easterling Jr. (Noelle), her daughter Mary Alese Liedman (Sean), and five beloved grandchildren: Luke Liedman (32), Jake Liedman (30), Grace Liedman (24), Regan Easterling (8) & Chloé Easterling (2).
A funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Fleming Island on Friday, May 9, 2025, at 2 pm. A celebration of life will follow.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer’s Association in Lorie’s memory.
