Deborah Jordan Krahn (73), beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 10, 2024, after a courageous two-year battle with cancer.
Deborah was born on October 25, 1951, in Covington, Kentucky. She grew up in a large family as one of five siblings. She was surrounded by the lively camaraderie of her four brothers, all of whom preceded her in death. Her early years were spent between Ohio and Kentucky, where her family laid deep roots.
Deborah met the love of her life, Jim Krahn, in Cincinnati, and they married soon after, sharing a lifetime of love and partnership. They were devoted to each other until Jim’s passing on December 19, 2022. Together, they built a family filled with love and cherished traditions.
She is survived by her daughter, Emily Pratt, Emily’s husband Jeff, and their daughter, Parker, whom Deborah adored and proudly called her “Sweet P.” Deborah is also survived by her son, Karl Krahn, his significant other, Frances Cooksey, and their daughters Faith, Skylar, and Harley, all of whom she welcomed into her heart as family.
Deborah's professional life was defined by her passion for nurturing and community. She graduated from the University of North Florida with a degree in education and taught at several schools around Jacksonville. She later worked for many years at Julian's Dancewear, a local dance store, where she delighted in fitting dance shoes for children of all ages, leaving a lasting impression with her warmth and care. Additionally, she shared her love of children while working in the Cubs Den at Epping Forest Yacht and Country Club, providing a safe and joyful space for countless little ones.
Known for her gentle heart, quick wit, and unwavering strength, Deborah was a steadfast presence in the lives of her family and friends. Her legacy is one of love, kindness, and dedication to the people and communities she held dear.
A celebration of Deborah’s life will be held at 2999 Hartley Road, Jacksonville, Florida on Sunday, December 8, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. The family will be there to greet relatives and friends.
