David Michael Smith

David Michael Smith went to be with the Lord and his beloved mother on June 4, 2021, in Jacksonville, FL surrounded by his family and friends.  He was born on June 4, 1973, in Newport News, VA at the Fort Eustis Army Hospital to James M. Smith and Donna W. Smith.  David grew up in Jacksonville, FL and graduated from Mandarin High School in 1991, the inaugural year.

After graduation David started his own lawn care business before getting grandfathered into the masonry trade which he continued to do for the remainder of his life.  He helped build countless buildings and homes throughout the North Florida area.  He took great pride in his work and work ethic.  David also loved to hunt in Georgia and North Carolina with his dad and brother.  He made many offshore trips to the Gulf Stream always coming back with the coolers overflowing with fish.  David always looked forward to spending time with family and friends.

David lost his battle with lung cancer on his 48 ^th birthday at his home in Mandarin.  He is survived by his grandmother, father, brother, aunts, uncles, daughter and two sons.  Dorothy M. Smith, James M. Smith, Brandon W. Smith, Fred and Sherry Smith, Bobby and Cindy Williams, August, Carver and Ryan along with his lifelong girlfriend and mother to his two sons, Dana Nicols.

David will be truly missed by family, friends and all who loved him.  There will be a graveside service at 11:00am on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at the Mandarin Cemetery, 12135 Mandarin Road, Jacksonville, FL 32223.
