David Milton Shrout, 69, of Jax Beach, Florida rode out on that blue highway on November 1, 2024.
He was born to Charles Clay Shrout and Martha Watkins Shrout on September 12, 1955, in Carlisle, Kentucky. He attended Southside Junior High and Englewood High School, where his mother was a math teacher.
David married Lee Taylor Shrout on Valentine’s Day, 1983, in the Chapel by the Sea on Captiva Island. He retired from Big Chief Tire Company in 2017, where he worked alongside his best friend, Steve, for 40 years. He then started his own company, Shrout Enterprises, and as CEO and handyman, used his talents to fix anything, setting his own hours, and getting paid for it. He enjoyed his business, his clients, and their dogs.
David loved his Harley Davidson Sportster which he bought new at the age of 19 and kept ‘til his dying day. He loved music, playing guitar, writing and singing original songs with Steve Bennett in their band, Rare Breed, since 1972.
David will be remembered as a hardworking, music loving, songwriting, guitar playing, Harley riding, sharp dressing, dog loving, gun toting man. He will be remembered as a loving husband, son, father, brother, and loyal friend. He will be remembered by his wife as a live wire, a romantic, funny, kind, good looking, “magnetic force of a man” since the day they met in November 1980.
David was preceded in death by his mother Martha, his father Charles, his older brother Tommy, and his beloved dogs Spike and Lola.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Lee, his brother Steve (Robin), his daughter Chanda (P.D.), his grandchildren Khaine, Kadence, Apollonia & Anastasia, lifelong friends, and his beloved Scout and Luna.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, December 14, from 1-3p.m. at South Beach Community Center next to Sunshine Park.
