David John Rafanowicz, 70, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 8, 2024, in St. Johns, Florida. Born on Wednesday, February 10, 1954, in Buffalo, New York, David lived a life marked by curiosity, dedication, and love for his family and community.
David is survived by his devoted wife of 32 years, Donna Rafanowicz; his son, Brian Steele and his wife Melinda, his daughter, Ashley Frank; his son-in-law, Tim Frank; and his treasured granddaughters, Charlie Mae Frank and Millie June Frank, who brought him endless joy. He is also survived by his brother, Daniel Rafanowicz, sister-in-law, Patricia Rafanowicz, and nieces Kelly, Karen, and Kimberly, each of whom held a special place in his heart.
A lifelong learner, David had a deep passion for discovery that drove him to achieve much in his life. He carried that same enthusiasm into his hobbies, proudly serving as the President of the Greater Jacksonville Coin Club, President of St. John’s County Republicans Club, and President of The Jacksonville Toastmasters International club. Known for his love of history and collecting, he cherished the stories every coin told and shared this passion with everyone he met.
David was also an avid walker, known for exploring nearly every street in Jacksonville and beyond, taking pride in the simple joy of discovery. His adventurous spirit could be summed up in the words he often lived by: “Adventure, Explore, Discover.”
David’s guiding principles extended to his philosophy on life: “Buy low, sell high, and vote Republican.” These phrases not only reflected his values but also brought smiles to those who knew him well.
David’s kindness, sense of humor, and unwavering dedication to his family and community will be deeply missed. He leaves behind a legacy of leadership, curiosity, and a reminder to embrace the adventure of life.
A Celebration of Life for David will be held on Saturday, January 4th, 2025 from 1:00pm - 3:00pm at The Ramada Hotel & Convention Center, located at 3130 Hartley Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32257.
