David Nathaniel Henry

July 24, 1961 — October 20, 2018

David Nathaniel Henry, 57, of Jacksonville, FL passed on October 20, 2018.  He was born in New York, the youngest son of Haywood Henry and Altamese (Williams) Henry.  He was educated in the Duval County Public School System, a graduate of Jackson Senior High School, where he was a scholarship-earning football legend.  After some time playing college football at Indiana State University, he completed his college education at the Police Academy through Lamar University in Beaumont, TX.

Mr. Henry retired after a successful, fulfilling 21 year career at Beaumont Police Department.  The final 11 years in the department (BPD), he was the founding Executive Director of the Beaumont Police Activities League (PAL), where he positively enhanced, molded, and guided the lives of over 1500 of the community’s youth. After retiring, he enjoyed a second career in private investigations, fulfilling yet another career goal.  Other life accomplishments include some acting & voice performances in community plays, TV and radio commercials … even a movie role.  But his true loves were time spent with family & friends, food, football, music (jazz and classic R & B), and traveling.

He will be remembered most for being a good husband, father, son, brother, grandfather, and a great man.  He was the kind of man that all strive to emulate, and the kind of person that humankind honors.

He leaves behind his beloved wife Stephanie, his daughters Talia and Cambri of Jacksonville FL, and his son Devon of Kountz TX. Also, his mother Altamese Henry and Nancy Polk Woolford, sister Antoinette of St Paul MN, brothers Robert and Reginald, along with his wife Linda, of Jacksonville FL.  His grandchildren Camille and Ellison Williams, and Kobe Wise; as well as several beloved nieces, nephews and in-laws who will also miss him, immensely.  He was predeceased by his father, Haywood (Hank), and his brother Kenneth (Kenny).

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday October, 24 2018 at Alphonso West Mortuary Chapel. 4409 Soutel Dr. Jacksonville, FL 32208 with the Elder Reginald K. Caldwell presiding. Gifts in Mr. Henry’s memory can be sent to his home: 12590 Ayrshire St East, Jacksonville FL 32226.
