Daryl Dale Sheffield, 65, of Jacksonville, FL passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2024.
Daryl was born to Paula and Percy Sheffield on February 4, 1959, in Jacksonville, FL. After graduating from Paxon High School in Duval County, Daryl went on to have an illustrious career as a Diesel Technician and Shop Foreman at Benton Express, eventually taking his measurable talents to UPS Freight for the remainder of his career.
On Saturday, May 21, 2016, Daryl married Carmen Lara. Daryl loved being a father and grandfather. He loved riding his Harley Davidson with friends and family, as well as reading, napping, and recounting the price of everything he ever purchased. He will be remembered as a man who loved his wife, a man who enjoyed tormenting his children, a man who loved his grandsons dearly, and as the self-proclaimed “World’s Greatest Mechanic”.
Daryl was preceded in death by his parents, Paula and Percy.
He is survived by his wife Carmen, son Samuel and his wife Stephanie, daughter Autumn Higginbotham and her husband Brian, stepdaughters LeeAnn Davis and Kristin Hudson, grandsons Jackson and Jake Higginbotham, brothers Michael and Brian, sister Cheryl Lunn, and many in-laws, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at the Classic Car Museum of St. Augustine. The Celebration is informal, and we invite anyone who would like to share any fond memories or funny stories about Daryl to please do so.
