Connie Roberson

April 16, 1936 — February 1, 2024

Connie Roberson, 87, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away peacefully at home on February 1, 2024. Connie was born to Leo and Rachel Roberson on April 16, 1936 in Hackleburg, Alabama.

After high school graduation, Connie proudly served his country in the Army.  He was honorably discharged and continued his service in the Army Reserves.

A serious car enthusiast, Connie moved to Jacksonville in 1962 to pursue a career with Duval Ford which he enjoyed for many years until his retirement.  His passion for repairing cars, building engines and racing led him to own and operate his own racetrack, Thunderbolt Raceway.

Connie was a faithful and devoted member of St Matthew’s Catholic Church. Over the years, he volunteered many hours of dedicated service to both his church and St. Matthew’s School.

Connie is survived by his wife, Madelyn, the love of his life for 67 years, two children, Constance Namey (Joe) and Bart Roberson (Julie), 4 grandchildren and many extended family members.  Connie was predeceased by his grandson, Michael Namey.

Connie will be remembered as a loving husband, a caring and patient father, proud grandpa and a kind gentleman to all he met.

A private service with military honors will be held at Jacksonville National Cemetery.
