Clayton Bernard Green

October 18, 1949 — November 25, 2019

Clayton Green, age 70 of Jacksonville, Florida, through his faith, was taken into Christ's arms and now shares for all eternity the steady beat of that great and loving heart.  He was born to Floyd Green and Mavourneen Hawkins in Green Cove Springs, FL on October 18, 1949.  We will celebrate his life at Lakewood Presbyterian Church, 2001 University Blvd. W, Jacksonville, FL on Saturday, December 7 at 11:30 am. A reception will also be held following the service.

Clayton grew up a Navy brat; living in Virginia & San Diego but returned to Orange Park where he graduated from Orange Park High School in 1968.  He got his associate's degree at Florida Junior College and eventually his Bachelor's in Business Administration from Jacksonville University.  Clayton moved away again, worked as a Radiographer, and a Xerox associate before coming back to Jacksonville, where he worked for JM Family, Centurion Auto Transport, and ATC logistics, in roles that included technical analyst, IT manager, ISO Auditor and Director of Quality in the transportation industry.

Family and friends remember Clayton as a sweet and compassionate person who lived his faith in service to his church as an Elder, bass singer in his choir, Stephen Minister, as well as a music & video producer. He was an avid photographer and shared that passion with his daughter, Meredith.  He loved to travel with the choir on many European trips as well as the various travel adventures that his wife, Karen, scouted out for them to enjoy. If you were able to ask Clayton how he was doing right now, he would say with a big smile. "If I was any better I couldn't stand it".  This was one of many positive responses that he had to give people along with his heartfelt concern for their wellbeing.

He leaves behind his wife of 31 years, Karen, his daughter, Meredith (Andy) Feeney of Fernandina Beach, FL, sister, Sandra (Matt) Wesley, Nephew, Gerald Parker, both of Jacksonville, FL, and his sweet granddaughter, Grayson Feeney.  His parents preceded him in death.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to his church, Lakewood Presbyterian Church, in Jacksonville to follow his lead in serving others through the church ministries & programs. http://www.lpcjax.org/
