Catherine Ann Leibman

September 5, 1956 — June 11, 2019

Leibman, Cathy Livingston. September 5, 1956 – June 11, 2019. Cathy passed away in the company of her sweetheart Mark in Jacksonville, Florida. Cathy grew up in Omaha where, thanks to what Mark calls “the miracle of alphabetical order,” her locker was next to his. Cathy raised her four babies and many daycare babies in Louisville and later enjoyed travel between home bases in Nebraska and the Tampa area, by way of the Magic Kingdom as often as possible. She loved reading to her babies and grandbabies. Florida sunsets over the ocean couldn’t be beat, she believed, and she became a diligent chronicler of the horizon’s greatest hits at Honeymoon Island and other points of interest. Cathy shared her table, her knowledge, her books, her time, energy, and love with her family and friends as much as she could, and she will be remembered for all that and more. Cathy is preceded in death by her parents Thomas F. Livingston and Margaret L. (Sullivan) Livingston; brother Tom Livingston; brother and sister-in-law Dan and Mori Livingston. She is survived by her husband Mark Leibman; children and partners Max and Kourtney Leibman, Alexandra Leibman and Jack Ralls and Sarah Measday-Ralls, Greg Leibman and Hannah Weber, Caitie Leibman and Billy Garver; grandbabies Owen Leibman (Max and Kourtney) and Gwen Garver (Caitie and Billy); siblings and partners Chris and Martha Livingston, Susie Livingston, Bill Livingston, Mary Livingston and Shari Hardinger, Liz and Keith Malo; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other relatives and friends. The family will gather privately then receive friends at a Celebration of Life for Cathy from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, July 14, at the German-American Society north hall in Omaha, with a short program at 1:30 p.m. and light appetizers throughout. In lieu of flowers, please consider contributing to your local food bank or children’s program.
