Carolyn Anne Scott, age 77, passed away on May 24, 2024. She was born on November 18, 1946, in Norfolk, Virginia to Dora Ozelle and Robert Richard Fluck. She and her sister spent their childhood traveling with Bob’s Naval postings and finally settled in Pensacola, Florida until graduation from high school.
After graduation from Escambia High School, she attended Florida State University and graduated with a bachelor’s in education. Teaching brought her to Jacksonville, Florida, where she helped develop the Special Education Curriculum for Clay County and obtained a master’s from Jacksonville University. She taught both special education and then primary school in the Duval County Public School System, from which she retired after over 30 years of service.
Carolyn was married to Andy Anderson from 1969-1984 and took time off from her career to stay at home to raise their two children, Kristin and Robert Anderson, until they were old enough to attend school. During these years, she was active in the community. She helped bring the March of Dimes to north Florida and was involved in a local poetry chapter, Kalliope. She would continue to be an avid writer throughout the rest of her life. She also enjoyed researching genealogy, traveling to libraries and cemeteries throughout the U.S.
She will be remembered as a loving and giving mother and friend, an inquisitive student of life, and a patient and caring teacher.
Carolyn was preceded in death by both her mother and father. She is survived by her sister, Roberta Bartholdi, her first husband, and their two children.
There will be more information posted for Celebration of Life on the following memorial web address: carolyn-anne-scott.forevermissed.com. The site is just getting started, but the family encourages those whose lives were touched by her to post pictures and memories.
