Caroline Mae McKenzie born September 1, 1943 to Leona and Robert McKenzie, their 7th child among nine. Caroline passed on January 13th, which was also her father’s birthday. She is preceded in death by one son, Chip, her Mother and Father, and two sisters, Shirley McCleod and Pat Holliday, who we all miss dearly. Three sisters and brothers live on, Roberta ‘Bobbie’ Wilson, Loretta ‘Rachel’ Cook, Lawrence ‘Larry’ McKenzie, Maxine McKenzie, Charles ’Chuck’ McKenzie and James ‘Jimmy’ McKenzie.
She was independent most of her life. She was a clever artist, writing poems, drawing portraits, and illustrating children’s books. Her poems had insightful deep meaning about family and her life. Her portraits captured her subject’s true essence. Caroline loved to sing karaoke with her favorite friend, Candy. She was the first person you met at the desk of her sister, Rachel’s beauty school in Orange Park. She was excellent in that role; cheerful and friendly to everyone who walked through the door. She was one of the only people in our family who liked to hug. Caroline was a survivor of many challenges in life. Through it all, she was a good and kind person. We will miss our Caroline.
