Eulogy of Carlos Orozco

Carlos Bertrand Orozco (Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great grandfather and great-great grandfather) passed away on May 3 ,2024.  He died peacefully surrounded by his family.  He waited patiently for his last son to arrive, so as to say good bye to all who were able to be present for his last breaths.  He is survived by a large family consisting of his beloved wife Albertina; sons Douglas, Carlos, David, Walter and Gontran; daughters Orietta and Ana Erlinda, fifteen grandchildren, eight great grandchildren with three more on the way; and his brother Fulvio.

Carlos was born in Managua, Nicaragua on November 22, 1931, though his official Birth certificate stated Dec 2, 1931.  Carlos was born to a humble family that valued hard work and humility over everything.  He attended public school and got initiated into the workforce at the age of 11, cleaning graves in a graveyard.  He went on to become an Assistant Chief at the Justice Department, where he was admired and beloved by his peers and coworkers.  Pursuant to the change in leadership of the Government, he followed his family to the United States where he began a new chapter of his life.  Once again the resilient Carlos had to start at the bottom, with nothing … all wealth, title and status having been left behind.  He took no shame in doing anything it took to support his family.  Any job that helped in comforting and providing for his family’s needs was good enough for him. He continued as long as his body and health allowed.

His biggest hobbies were gardening and expanding the flowerbeds in his backyard, teasing his children and grandchildren, and let’s not forget the scratching of the lottery tickets that seemed to come in endless abundance upon his request!

His friends and family will miss his tremendous kindness and generosity.  His word of wisdom and the calmness within him no matter what crisis hit.  He was able to make everyone feel loved and important.  He never complained about anything!  Not his health, not his pains, not his aches!  He always expressed his appreciation for all the blessings he’d had, and the gratefulness to be able to spend another day with his beloved wife Albertina and his children.  He maintained that demeanor to the last breath he took on May 3rd.

He will be missed greatly by all that had the blessing of crossing his path.  May his soul rest in peace and guide his loved ones for ever.

Elogio a Carlos Orozco
