Beverly Jean Loper was born on July 16, 1948 to Mary Lee Young (Yeagley) and George Allen Young in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. At 6 months old she and her family moved to California where they made their home for 46 years. Beverly married William (Bill) Andrew Loper on Valentine’s Day in 1981. They moved to Jacksonville, Florida in 1994.
Beverly is survived by her husband of 40 years, Bill Loper, her daughter/granddaughter Ashly Potter, Jacksonville, son/grandson Andrew Allen Loper, New York City, daughter Melanie Potter, Minnesota, and sister Sharyn Campbell, California, 4 step-children, Billy Loper, Greg Loper, Tammy Redka, and Karen Loper, many step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as many close friends and neighbors.
Beverly Loper was the true meaning of the word friend. She was held in high esteem by people from all walks of life. She was admired and loved by so many people. Beverly knew your need before you did. Never a day went by that she wasn’t planning or doing an unselfish act for someone else. Her volunteer efforts were a labor of love.
She devoted her time to Pine Forest School of the Arts as past PTA president, past Arts Foundation president, fundraising chairman, arts coordinator, classroom assistant and any other job that she was asked to do. She was a friend to all. When in California, she worked with handicapped children to provide them with summer camp activities.
At the Baggs Studio of Ballet, Mrs. Beverly was the face of the front office. She passed along information, organized parties, and always made sure the dancers were fed and hydrated. At recital time she was Ms. Debbie’s extra pair of hands, always there waiting to help. All of her neighbors and friends have stories that they can share, telling of the unselfish love Beverly had to give. Her “tell it like it is” comments, her smile, laugh, and caring ways are what we loved about our dear friend, wife, mom, grandma, sister, Beverly. Cancer may have taken her from this earth, but she will never leave our hearts.
In lieu of flowers, Beverly and her family request that donations be made to the Beverly Loper Scholarship Fund for the Jacksonville Concert Ballet Company, Inc, a 501c3 non-profit organization.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Loper residence, 1760 Rivergate Trail 32223, on Thursday, June 17th from 2:00 - 8:00.
