Margaret A. Watts, age 98, was born on May 15, 1912 in Alberta, Canada to Minnie Louise and Henry Hosea Floyd. She died November 13, 2010. The family moved from Canada back to North Carolina and then to the coast of South Carolina. For years Margaret lived near Murrells Inlet, S.C. with her brother John I. Floyd. She devoted her life to the care of others and reminded us daily with her words and actions of how important it was to love God, yourself, and others. She moved to Jacksonville, Fl. in 1986 to live with her daughter, Jean and son-in-law, Ollie Cavender.
Margaret was the last of a family of seven sisters and two brothers. She had two daughters, Arlene Thompkins, who is deceased, and Jean Cavender. She is survived by nieces, Vonceile Hughes (Don), Ramona Clapp (Don), and Susan Celeste McDowell and by nephews, Bruce Morton and Daniel McDowell. Great nieces and nephews include: Jeannie Henry, Marjorie Barrow, Heather Verderver, Holly Sullivan, Christopher Clapp, Geoff Clapp, Scott Morton and Hoyt Hughes.
A memorial service will be held at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 8264 Lone Star Road, Jacksonville, Fl., on Friday, November 19, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to St. Paul's Children's Programs.
