Virginia Stearsman Davis

December 24, 1958 — November 10, 2010

Virginia Stearsman Davis of Jacksonville, Florida died on November 10, 2010 after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. A Celebration of Life will be held on November 14, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at the Communication Workers of America Local 3106 Union Hall at 4076 Union Hall Place, Jacksonville, Fl. A Celebration of Life will be held in Kentucky. Private burial services will be in Kentucky.

Virginia was born in Madisonville, Kentucky on December 24, 1958 to the late Lowell E. "Tim" Stearsman and Gertie Adcock Stearsman of Mortons Gap, Kentucky. She attended South Hopkins High School where she was active in the band and was a cheerleader.

She began her career as an operator with Bell South in Madisonville, Kentucky. Over the course of 30 years she worked in the offices at West Palm Beach, Pembroke Pines, and for the past nine years at the Jacksonville office. She was a member of CWA Local 3106. She was very active with Telephone Pioneers supporting such functions at the Ronald MacDonald House, Race for Cure Walk, and the March of Dimes 5K.

Survivors include her son, Kyle Wayne Davis of Glendive, Montana, Sister Mary O'Bryant and her husband Michael of Greenville, NC; Brothers Michael W. Stearsman and wife Nancy and Robert A. Stearsman and wife Debbie of Mortons Gap, Kentucky. She is survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. She is also survived by her dog Cheyenne, who was such a companion to her over the past two years.

The family would like to express its appreciation to her AT & T family in Florida especially Rhonda, Barb, Maggie, Chris, Susan, Lori and Ricardo, Jody, Dawn, Evelyn, Mike, Randy, Mario, Matt, and Greg. To all of her friends and fellow employees who sent cards, prayers, visited or called during her illness. You were not only a support system for her but for her entire family over the past two years. To her sister-in-law Cindy and her husband, Mark for the love and care that you provided to her and Kyle throughout her illness. To our cousin Leslie and her husband Joe, for being there for all of us over the past year. To Drs. Stephen Buckley and Akin Cabi, Dr. Buckley's NP, Deborah, the nursing staff on the surgical-oncology unit at St. Vincent's Hospital, and the Northern Florida Community Hospice for the care and support you provided to Virginia and our family.
