Irene M. Cosio

December 4, 1931 — September 11, 2010

Irene M. Cosio died peacefully among family on 9-11 after a prolonged illness. She was truly an angel all of her life. She was born in Boston, Mass. 12-4-1931, to parents Chris Canton from Amsterdam Holland and Stella Canton born in Poland. She is in heaven now and at peace. She leaves behind her husband of 58 years Benjamin Cosio; two sons, Richard Cosio and wife Debra, Robert Cosio and wife Yvonne; three daughters, Deanna and husband Bob Lindemann, Christy and husband Bill Cadigan, Laura and husband Pat Boyle; 10 grandchildren: Hilary, Brett, Christian, Cory and wife Kaitlyn, Cameron, Caitlin, Sean, Chris, Josh, and Amber.

Irene went back to college after having 5 children and became an RN, graduating at the top of her class. She worked at St. Vincent’s where she was a supervisor at St. Catherine Laboure Manor, at St. Luke’s in post surgical and also at Beauclerc Manor and Wesley Manor nursing homes in Jacksonville. She preferred nursing homes; she loved older residents. Her badge of honor was her smile, her beauty, and her genuine love for her family and her patients. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her including 34 CHRP sisters at St. Joseph and all of her new friends at San Juan Del Rio. There was no man luckier than her husband Ben. God Bless you, Irene; we will be with you again someday. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 18, 2010 at San Juan Del Rio Catholic Church, 1714 SR 13 in the main church. Father John Tetlow officiating.

In lieu of flowers, Irene and Ben prefer donations to the Williams YMCA on San Jose for children that are needy.
