William Thatch Aldridge, Jr.

ALDRIDGE William T. Aldridge Jr. of Jacksonville, Fl. entered into the presence of his eternal Father, Sept 3, 2010. He passed at his home with his family at his side. He was born May 13, 1929 in High Point, NC: grew up in Norfolk, VA; has resided in Jacksonville since 1975 when he was transferred from Richmond, VA with the Coastline Railroad, where he had been employed for 44 years. He is survived by his wife Maxine Aldridge, son William Aldridge lll and wife Kathy, daughters Linda LeMay and Elizabeth Rumple and spouse Terry all of Jacksonville, FL; three grandsons, six granddaughters, four great grandsons and one great granddaughter; one sister Nancy Thomas and spouse Clyde of Apex, NC, and numerous nieces and nephews. He served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict, was a member of Lakewood United Methodist Church of Jacksonville. He enjoyed family times, traveling, gardening, had many fond memories participating in softball, bowling and dancing sponsored by the railroad and is best known for his frugal nature and amazing ability to "fix it" that would put MacGiver to shame. A Memorial Service will be held at Lakewood United Methodist Church of Jacksonville Tuesday, Sept 7th at 11:30am. In lieu of flowers donations to the ALS Association FL Chapter 3242 Parkside Center Circle Tampa, FL 33619-0907 or Community Hospice 4266 Sunbeam Rd Jacksonville, FL 32257 would be appreciated.
