Rudolph Perry Baughman 85, passed away on August 5, 2010 in Taylor Care Center where he spent his last days being loved and cared for by the Nurses and Staff of both Taylor Care Center and Community Hospice of Jacksonville, Florida.
Mr Baughman was a 65 year resident of Jacksonville, Florida. Mr. Baughman was a dedicated Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great-grandfather to his family. He was pre-diseased by the loving wife of 57 years Mary Thornell Baughman on February 11, 2003. Mr Baughman leaves behind a daughter and son-in-law Cynthia D Knopf and Ralph J Knopf as well as three grandchildren Cheyenne Knopf, Keith Howell Jr and Matthew Howell all from Jacksonville and his three great-grandchildren Brandy Howell, Mason Howell (Keith) from Jacksonville and Graicyn Howell (Matthew) from Palm Bay, Florida.
Mr. Baughman also leaves behind 2 brothers Harold Baughman and Jimmy Baughman as well as a sister Margaret Moss and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Mr. Baughman was born in Palatka Florida on August 22, 1924 to Perry Thomas Baughman and Wilma Spivey Baughman. He served in the US Navy in Pensacola Florida at the U.S. Naval Air Station from 1943-1945 as a Boatswain Mate Second Class. He met and Married his wife Mary Thornell Baughman while serving the US Navy in Pensacola Florida on August 11, 1945. After being Honorably Discharged from the Navy Mr. Baughman and his wife moved to Jacksonville where they bought their first home. In 1954 they adopted their only child, daughter Cynthia. After coming to Jacksonville Mr. Baughman entered into the Carpenters Apprenticeship and joined the Carpenters Local Union 627 where he retired in 1979. He and his wife Mary spent a majority of their retirement traveling the US and fishing on the banks of Dunn’s Creek in Palatka Florida where they had their little fish camp where they would stay weeks at a time just fishing and relaxing.
The family has chosen to not have a service as they are planning many private celebrations to spread his ashes in all his favorite places.
