Patricia W. Reiman, 79, passed away peacefully at Mayo Clinic Hospital in Jacksonville on July 31, 2010, with her family at her bedside. She and her devoted husband of 57 years, Peter A., were members of Glenmoor Retirement Community in World Golf Village, St. Augustine, Florida.
Pat was the daughter of the late Pamelia and W. Everett Wood. In addition to her husband, she leaves her children: Scott and his wife, Diane, of Montgomery Township, NJ; Jeffrey and his wife, Cheryle, of Berkeley Springs, WV; Pamela of Winchester, VA; Holly Jakobsons and her husband, Andris, of Hudson, MA; grandchildren, Christopher, Alyssa, Kaitlin, and Steven Reiman, Joshua and Jason Jakobsons; and her sister, Cornelia Tibbals and her husband, Theodore, of Scarborough, ME.
Born in Portland, ME, Pat grew up in Newton, MA where she and her husband-to-be began their long term relationship in junior high school. After graduating from Green Mountain College and Boston University, she taught school briefly and then devoted her life to her children and family in Weston and Lincoln, MA. After rearing their family, Pete and Pat moved to Florida in 2001 but have returned to their New England roots every summer since.
Pat will be remembered as a loving wife and mother, a willing and able volunteer in her children’s schools and in long term charitable activities. She was an outgoing people person, and the possessor of a unique sense of humor which was evident to the very end. She and her husband were avid world travelers, having visited over 75 countries on six continents. Special pleasure was always evident during their trips to Bermuda, having visited the island almost every year since 1961, often with all or part of her family.
In accordance with her wishes, a memorial service will be held in Weston, MA at a future date to be determined by her family. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to Mayo Clinic Cancer Center, 4500 San Pablo Road, Jacksonville, FL, 32224, or the Glenmoor Scholarship Fund, 235 Towerview Drive, St. Augustine, FL 32092 would be greatly appreciated.
