Ben Waldman

Ben Waldman, 95, of Jacksonville, Florida, died peacefully Thursday, July 15, 2010 at River Garden Hebrew Home, after a brief illness. Born in Chicago, Illinois, November 12, 1914, and after completing high school, Ben entered the retail shoe business in 1932, wed Eve Goldstein in 1935, and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, in the Pacific Theater. From 1950 to 1960, Ben and Eve co-owned and managed two department stores in Attica, Indiana. In 1960 the Waldmans relocated to Florida and Ben began a second career in sales, transitioning into the travel business in 1975, where he found his passion. Ben continued working in the industry until his death, being associated with All Seasons Travel of Jacksonville. He loved cruising and travelled the world over with his loving wife, Eve. Survivors include his wife of seventy-five years, Eve Goldstein Waldman of Jacksonville, Fl; two sons, Richard Waldman of Washington State and Michael Waldman and family of Louisiana; sister, Bailey Gordon of Ft. Lauderdale, Fl; and extended family members, Chuck and Janice Maida of Jacksonville, Fl; special friends, Sonia and the staff of All Seasons Travel. No services are planned. Burial will take place at sea under the direction of the U. S. Navy. Memorials have been designated to River Garden Hebrew Home, Jacksonville, Florida. Mourn not his death but celebrate a life long lived.
