Delores L. Base

Delores L. Base, 80, passed away in the loving arms of her husband on May 13, 2010 in their longtime home. She was born in 1929 to Leonard and Hazel Lott in Gulfport, Miss. She married John H. Base and moved to Jacksonville where she has spent most of her life.
Delores was a devoted wife, sister, mother and grandmother. She leaves behind her loving husband of 59 years, John H. Base, Sr., brother, Noel Lott, children; Maud (John) Crosby, John (Julie) Base, Jr, Kitty (Max) Stevens, and Wyndee (Charles) Joseph; 9 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.
Delores was greatly loved by her family and will be sorely missed by all. She had a wonderful sense of humor, endless miles of patience, bounds of energy and a remarkable depth of love for the Lord and her family. Delores was the heart of the family offering love, peace, wisdom and serenity.
She loved fishing, boating, gardening, word puzzles, reading, music, but mostly spending time with family. Perseverance, love, patience, joy, and kindness were taught through her example, not by words. There was never a night that a warm dinner wasn’t made or a kind word not given after a long day. She encouraged individuality and pursuit of passions and dreams.
Delores now lives on in heaven and in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Services will be Saturday, May 22nd at the Mandarin United Methodist Church at 10am with a Memorial meal to follow in her home.
