Mary Evelyn Costianes

July 15, 1919 — March 26, 2010

Mary Evelyn Costianes, 90 passed away March 26th. Born in Moultrie, GA to General and Clarice Holden, she raised her children in Tampa, FL and moved to Jacksonville 15 years ago to be near her daughters.

Mary was a long-time faithful member of Salem Baptist Church in Tampa where she served the Lord in many ways in the church and in the community.

Preceding her in death are two husbands, Eugene L. Horton who gave his life in World War II and Peter E. Costianes. Her beloved son Van Costianes died in 1999.

Survivors include son Eric L. Horton and daughter-in-law Linda Horton (whom she loved as a daughter) of Tampa; daughters, Patricia Higgs (Donald) and Helen Mabe of Jacksonville. One of eleven children, she is also survived by four sisters, and was YaYa to five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren as well as several honorary grandchildren.

According to her wishes, a family memorial and celebration of a life well lived will be held in Tampa.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Southlake Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the loving care provided her.
