Richard Edward Mayhew

Deland, FL – Richard E. Mayhew, 63, of Deland, FL passed away Sunday evening at the George and Margaret Morris Community Hospice Center, Jacksonville, FL after a long illness due to cancer. Richard was born May 24, 1946 in West Allis/Milwaukee, WI, son of LeVerne and Ursula (Washburn) Mayhew. He was one of eight children. Richard is preceded in death by his parents, a sister Dawn (Mayhew) Wickersham, his brother Judson, sisters-in-law, Jackie and June. He is survived by two sisters Sharon ( Bill ) Dunnells and Joyce. Surviving brothers are Earl, Wayne (Sherry), Gary, and brother-in-law Kenneth Wickersham, Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Richard was a well known counselor in Addictions, Mental Health, and Criminal Justice in the North Central Florida area. He also worked with children and their families. He is a graduate of West Allis Central High School, University of Wisconsin and DePaul University of Chicago, IL. A private memorial service will be held in the near future coordinated by his friends Dorothy and Joseph Kempf and Debbie Wickersham, his niece. In lieu of flowers memorial cards are appreciated.
