Ronald G. MUNRO died Friday, December 11, 2009 in Jacksonville FL at Northeast Florida Community Hospice at 95 years of age. He is survived by his loving wife of 74 years, Avis L. (Hammond) Munro, of Orange Park FL. He is predeceased by his son, Bernard E. Munro of Pembroke MA, on Dec 8, 2009. Survived by his other children: Arthur E. Munro of Swansboro NC, Charles W. Munro (Vera) of E. Hartford CT, Doris E. Small (Charles) of Orange Park FL, Freda E. Lee (Robert) of Orange Park FL, Lorraine A. Edwards (John) of Hanson MA.
He is also survived by Sandra Munro, widow of Bernard E. Munro. 19 Grandchildren, 25 Great Grandchildren, 6 Great-Great Grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, L. Phyllis Schneider of St. Augustine FL. and will be missed by his many friends.
Ronald G. Munro was born in Somerville MA 21 May 1914, was educated in MA, graduated from Hanover High School MA in 1932.
He was a Registered Land Surveyor of MA and CT, retired as Supt. of Operations, Water & Sewage in Groton CT in 1979.
He resided in Hanson MA, Groton CT, Round Pond ME, and Orange Park FL. He was a member and former Secretary of Clan Munro Association USA. He was a member of St. Andrews Society of ME and Jacksonville FL also Mayflower Society, Stetson Kindred. He was a long-standing member of First Congregational Church of Hanson MA, and of St. Giles Presbyterian Church of Orange Park.
A Memorial Service will be held at St. Giles Presbyterian Church, Orange Park FL on Tues. Dec 15th at 11 AM, reception following.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Northeast Florida Community Hospice, or St. Giles Presbyterian Church.
