He was a resident of Green Cove Springs, FL, for about 15 years, living at or near the GCS Marina.
He was the son of the late Philip N.and Ruth H. Cooke of Canada and Massachusetts. Bob was born in Hamilton, Ontario, and lived there until he was 15, then on to Massachusetts. He was a graduate of Colby College, Waterville, ME. Then into the U.S. Coast Guard (active and Reserves). Moved to Miami, FL where he met and married his wife, Carolyn.
After involvement in several businesses, he became a CPA, practicing with his own firms. Bob never retired, continuing to help people with financial advice. He's the published author of seven books in the field, including his first, The Mc-Graw Hill 36-hour Course in Finance for Non-Financial Managers, still in print in up-to-date editions. The Cookes also lived for over 30 years in Virginia.
Bob was always happiest sailing with friends and his wife of 50 years, Carolyn. His sons: David, Alex and Allen; his daughter, Nancy, were taught by him and spent many happy hours on the water. Allen's wife, Leigh, and their two sons, Sam and Jake, were much loved by him. He is also survived by his brother, Kenneth G. Cooke, of Ft. Myers, FL, and his wife, Gloria.
No service is planned as he wished the Coast Guard to handle the last service on the Atlantic Ocean.
The family wishes to thank his doctors and Community Hospice, Hadlow Center, for their care over the years and at the end.
